Main areas of teaching and research:
Political sociology, historical sociology, collective memory and culture of remembrance, multigenerational and biographical research, visual sociology, discourse research, methodological plural research
Research project investigator:
- “Aliens in the Community” and “Enemies of the State”: Intergenerational Structures of Action and Memory in Families of Stigmatized Victims of National Socialism in Austria and Germany
- Individual and collective memories of slavery and the slave trade: A contrastive comparison of different communities, generations and groupings in Ghana and Brazil

- Victoria Taboada Gomez - Trajectories across history, collective memory and strategy: the biographies of women from indigenous communities in Paraguay
- Sarah Könecke - "Otherwise I don't know where we would be today" - Effects of National Socialist persecution on the action and memory structures of the descendants of women persecuted as "asocial" and "criminal"
- Elio Clemenz - Treatment decisions of intersex people in adolescence and adulthood
