Prof. Dr. Maria Pohn-Lauggas

Prof. Dr. Maria Pohn-Lauggas is the Professor of Qualitative Methods of Social Research at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the Ruhr University Bochum (DFG Heisenberg Professorship).

Main areas of teaching and research:

Political sociology, historical sociology, collective memory and culture of remembrance, multigenerational and biographical research, visual sociology, discourse research, methodological plural research

Research project investigator:

• “Aliens in the Community” and “Enemies of the State”: Intergenerational Structures of Action and Memory in Families of Stigmatized Victims of National Socialism in Austria and Germany
• Individual and collective memories of slavery and the slave trade: A contrastive comparison of different communities, generations and groupings in Ghana and Brazil
