Course of Studies
The Master's program in Social Sciences with a focus on "Methods of Social Research" can be started in both the winter and summer semesters. It spans four semesters and consists of the following modules:
Three program modules (each 9 CP)
- Advanced Data Analysis (VSD)
- Methods of Empirical Social Research (AMS)
- Methodological Aspects of Data Analysis (MAD)
Three research and practice modules
- Research module: Performing independent empirical research, building on a study program-specific course (12 CP)
- Introduction to Research Methods and Multivariate Statistical Techniques (12 CP)
- Practice module: Eight-week internship (14 CP)
Three expansion modules
You have the option to choose these modules from both the Faculty of Social Sciences and other faculties at RUB, such as Geography, Law, and Economics.
One module “Additional“ (9 CP)
Module from another master’s program within the Social Science program
Two modules “Expansion and Specialization“ (each 9 CP)
Additional social science master modules, Master module Qualitative Methods in Social Research, Master module Social Science Theories, or a module from a different faculty/ a self-compiled module
Module final examination
- Master's thesis (20 CP)
- Oral examination (8 CP)
